The snow has melted and the weather is warm, summer is officially on its way. May has been a great month for us at Breckenridge Whitewater and June is looking even better. Here is a calendar of some amazing events in our area for you to attend after a day of rafting or zip lining.
- This year marks the 65th anniversary for the FIBArk in Salida. FIBArk stands for First in Boating on the Arkansas River. This four day river festival starts on June 13th and is host to many events including the longest whitewater race in the US. While this festival focuses primarily on the river events it is also host to many different types of competitions off the river. Off-river events include foot and bicycle races, air band competitions, disc golf, and beer tastings.
- Visit Frisco for its annual Colorado BBQ Challenge. June 13th-15th the town of Frisco will host a BBQ challenge like none other. See some of the best cooks compete to see who will reign supreme. The BBQ is great but there is more to this event than just good food. Other events include a 5K run, pig races, and live music. The proceeds from this event go to local non-profit organizations.
- June 8th is National Get Outdoors Day. Hosted by Get Outdoors Colorado, this event celebrates all the great things that can get achieved by going outside. This year National Get Outdoors Day will be held in REI Outdoor Adventure Village in Denver. Events will include; canoeing, biking, fishing and climbing.
- And don’t forget about the Breckenridge Rodeo. Back for its second year, the PRCA Pro Rodeo looks ready for another awesome season. Opening day is Saturday June 22nd and runs every Saturday and Sunday until August 31st. Events include Saddle Bronc, Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing, and 1-2 clown acts. Kids can also participate voluntarily in either Mutton Busting or Calf Scrambles.
