Take a weekend off in August and head to Buena Vista for this year’s Vertex Festival. Many big name and up-and-coming artists will be playing from August 5-7 at the Cottonwood Meadows ranch. This venue is an all natural location where many of Colorado’s best activities lie. Cottonwood Meadows is only a mile from downtown Buena Vista, full of local shops and cafes, and about eleven miles from AVA’s Granite location.
Many artists at this festival have played in Colorado at venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater or the Ogden and Fillmore in downtown Denver. Headlining are Odesza, the Alabama Shakes, and Trey Anastasio Band. Some of the lesser known (but still incredible) acts include Robert DeLong, Jai Wolf, Seven Lions, and Zach Heckendorf.
Vertex Festival allows people from all over to get the full Colorado experience in addition to great live shows. You will be surrounded by some of Colorado’s best hikes, as well as St. Elmo and Hancock ghost towns. On site camping and lodging at the festival assist concert-goers in getting up and going to do many popular activities in the Buena Vista area such as zip lining, fly fishing, and horseback riding. After spending a day on the river with all of your friends, you can stop by Mount Princeton hot springs to relax and gear up for the night of music you have ahead of you.
Whether you plan to go for one night or three, Vertex Music Festival is a perfect excuse to drop by AVA’s Granite location for a trip down Brown’s Canyon with all of your friends. If that is too much excitement for one day, camp after the show, sleep in, and come out for an afternoon zipline tour before you head back home.
