The Rocky Mountains are home to several outdoor activities, including thousands of miles of skiable terrain, endless hiking trails, and world-class rafting. The hidden gem of the Rockies are our craft breweries & distilleries. Check out the breweries and distillery of Breckenridge, a mountain town located near some of the best rafting in the country.
Breckenridge Brewery
The historic Breckenridge Brewery was opened in 1990 by Richard Squire, a long-time lover of homebrewing and craft brews. Breckenridge Brewery is unique in that it was the third craft brewery opened in Colorado. Situated at the south end of Main Street, the Breckenridge Brewery has seen an exponential amount of growth since opening its doors in the early 90’s. The company has expanded from a production of 3,000 barrels a year to over 60,000 with five locations throughout the state of Colorado. The brewery is known for more than their beer – they also have amazing food! Be sure to stop by the Breckenridge Brewery on your way back from our Blue River Express trip. This trip is perfect for beginner rafters and families. The Blue River Express trip begins just north of Silverthorne in the Gore Mountain Range.
Broken Compass Brewery
Looking for a relaxed, dog friendly place to spend your next happy hour outing after completing your scenic float on the Upper Colorado River? Look no further than the Broken Compass Brewery located at the north end of Airport Road in Breckenridge. The Brewery encourages customers to bring your own food, relax, and enjoy a nice craft beer after a long day of rafting; after all, it is always 5 O’Clock somewhere. The Broken Compass offers a wide variety of craft beers: the Irish Red, a Ginger Pale Ale, a Black IPA, a Chili Pepper Pale Ale, and the infamous Double IPA, to name a few.
Breckenridge Distillery
The Breckenridge Distillery has two very popular locations in Breckenridge. The Distillery, located on Airport Road, offers daily tours from 11 am to 6 pm. The Tasting Room, located on Main Street, is also open 7 days a week from 11 am to 9 pm. The Distillery prides itself on using local ingredients and Rocky Mountain Water for their wide variety of spirits which include Bourbon and Vodka selections.
